We invite you to join us for this unique workshop weekend, to be held Saturday September 3rd and Sunday September 4th at the Zen Buddhist Temple in Ann Arbor. The Dharma and Direct Action Workshop will be led by the Buddhist Peace Fellowship, an Oakland, California-based organization started in 1978 to promote a Buddhist approach to social and environmental justice. The trainers will be Dawn Haney, Co-Director of the BPF and Kate Johnson, a teacher of mindful yoga in NYC public schools and Buddhist meditation at The Interdependence Project. The workshop will combine conversation, reflection, and practical training in such areas as:

  • Political-Spiritual Messaging
  • Compassionate Confrontation
  • Building Nonviolent Direct Action, from planning to completion

The goal of this workshop is to strengthen strategic actions and build coalitions between groups of spiritual activists in Southeast Michigan, where economic inequality, racial discrimination, and environmental injustice do everything from cutting funding for much-needed public programs to poisoning our water.bpf fracking
