Sorry for late notice.
For those of you able; See below for related Chicago action this afternoon:
Metra Ogilvie Station on Madison and Canal Sts. downtown at 4pm on Thursday
June 26th.
As to John Yoo, find a growing resource page including many links and press
articles at its new blog: www.firejohnyoo.org. There is growing response in
Berkeley at the UCB Law School where I initiated a weekly teach-in on
torture in 2006.
Taigen
On Thursday June 26, torture professor John Yoo
<http://www.firejohnyoo.org>will appear in the House Judiciary
Committee to (allegedly) answer questions
about the torture memos.Earlier this week, the Supreme Court, 5-4decided
that Guantanamo detainees have some rights to appeal their detention in US
courts.
Bush says he's going to get around that by changing the law.
We want to make a put the torture issue starkly in front of people, again,
all together on June 26 in a 'National Day of Action Against Bush's War
Crimes'
The message? Bush's WHOLE PROGRAM is illegal... and criminal. NO to
torture!
*****Here in Chicago, we'll stage a dramatic theatrical NO TORTURE action
similar to the footage below*****
We need lots of people willing to don orange jumpsuits (bring yours if you
still have one) for this endeavor. Please let us know if we can count you
in! Bring your friends; acting skills not necessary (see the actions below).
Meet at the food court in the Metra Ogilvie Station on Madison and Canal
Sts. downtown at 4pm on Thursday June 26th. If you don't have a jumpsuit;
contact us ahead of time and we'll bring you one.
