Young Adult Programs

One of the main purposes of the Buddhist Peace Fellowship is to build and support the socially engaged Buddhist community around the world. We do so by creating training, education, and practice opportunities for socially engaged Buddhists, supporting BPF chapters and affiliates, and generating Buddhist social analysis on issues such as race, gender, class, and social and economic justice.

This year we have organized our work into campaigns in order to create a focus for our dharma-based action.  These campaigns are as follows:

Right to Practice:  Responding to the atrocities experienced by Buddhist monks and nuns in Asia and how it impacts the practice of those who aspire to Buddha's teachings everywhere.

One Peace: Responding to war and military occupation throughout the world.

Too Young to Do Time: Responding to the thousands of youth under the age of 17 imprisoned for life for non-violent crimes and being tried as adult facing the death penalty.

How Do We Respond:

Mindful Presence:  Leading marches, vigils, and demonstrations when necessary to show solidarity and to bring awareness

Education and Training:  Teaching others to integrate spirituality and social action in response to suffering in the world.

Coalition Building: Developing relatlionships with organizations who are interested in a dharma approach to their social justice work in the world.
